Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he remains focused and undisturbed despite the recent political tension surrounding his administration and future political plans.
The governor assured residents that all ongoing projects in the state would be completed, insisting that governance and development remain his top priorities.
Fubara made the statement while inspecting the ongoing Airport Road Bypass project in Port Harcourt on Friday.
According to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor expressed confidence and determination despite the political developments currently unfolding in Rivers State.
“We’re in high spirits,” Fubara reportedly said while addressing concerns over the situation in the state.
He stressed that his administration would not abandon any project already started, promising that every major development initiative would be completed for the benefit of Rivers people.
The governor explained that the Airport Road Bypass was designed to provide an alternative route to the Port Harcourt International Airport whenever disruptions occur along the main airport road.
According to him, protests and community disputes in the past have sometimes led to blockages on the airport route, affecting movement and economic activities within the state.
Fubara said the bypass would help prevent such situations and improve access to the airport for residents and visitors.
After inspecting the project with contractors, the governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and revealed that the road is expected to be completed before October 2026.
His comments are coming shortly after he announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election held on Thursday.
Fubara had explained that his decision was taken in the interest of peace, unity and political stability in Rivers State and within the party.
The move has since sparked reactions and raised questions about the political future of the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
Despite the growing political discussions, Fubara insists that his administration remains committed to delivering projects and putting Rivers people first.
