The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has strongly dismissed reports claiming that its Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, has been removed from office, describing the reports as false, misleading, and completely unfounded.
In a formal statement signed by the Director-General of the PGF, Folorunso S. Aluko, and dated May 7, 2026, the Forum addressed growing speculation circulating across media platforms regarding an alleged change in its leadership structure.
The PGF Secretariat clarified that no meeting was held where such a decision was discussed or approved, stressing that Governor Uzodimma remains the legitimate and recognized Chairman of the Forum.
According to the statement, the claims of removal were entirely baseless and lacked any official backing or record within the organization.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.
It further emphasized that there was no resolution, deliberation, or meeting of governors that resulted in such a decision, reaffirming Uzodimma’s continued leadership role.
“No meeting of the Forum was held at which such a decision was taken. The PGF Secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman,” the statement added.
The Forum also restated its unity and commitment to collective governance, urging members of the public, political stakeholders, and media organizations to disregard the report entirely.
It concluded by reaffirming that the Progressive Governors Forum remains united, focused, and committed to its core responsibilities in strengthening governance and collaboration among member states.
