The Accord Party has alleged that armed men attacked Imole House, the campaign office of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo, Osun State, amid rising political tension ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement released on Monday, Accord National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbuden, claimed the incident happened on Sunday night and described it as the second attack on the facility.
According to the party, gunmen reportedly opened fire on the building, damaging sections of the premises and shattering several glass windows.
Accord further alleged that offices within the complex, including that of the party’s Osun State Chairman, Victor Akande, were vandalised during the attack.
The party also claimed that the inscription “SAY NO TO AUTOMATIC TICKET” was found written on one of the walls inside the premises after the incident.
Mgbuden strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an attempt to intimidate political opponents ahead of the governorship poll.
He alleged that the attackers targeted both Governor Adeleke’s campaign office and the Accord Party state secretariat located within Imole House.
The party linked the latest incident to what it described as a growing pattern of violence and destruction allegedly directed at its supporters and campaign structures across the state.
Accord claimed that some of its billboards and campaign materials had previously been destroyed, while public properties were vandalised in recent weeks.
The party also alleged that the son of its women leader in Irewole Local Government Area was killed during earlier political violence.
According to Mgbuden, security agencies had already been informed about alleged plans by political actors to cause unrest in the state before the election.
He expressed concern that the attack still took place despite prior warnings to security authorities.
Accord called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to launch a full investigation into the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The party also urged security agencies to strengthen protection around Imole House and other sensitive locations across Osun State to prevent further violence.
Mgbuden warned against the use of intimidation and force in politics, insisting that elections should be decided through ideas and democratic engagement rather than violence.
