Governor Yusuf of Kano State has officially submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, confirming his position as the party’s sole governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 Kano governorship election.
The development was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa.
Governor Yusuf arrived in Abuja alongside prominent political figures from Kano State, including former Governor Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other top APC stakeholders.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the submission at Treasure Suites in Abuja, the governor described his bid for a second term as a renewed opportunity to continue serving the people of Kano State and deepen ongoing development projects across the state.
Yusuf stated that his administration plans to intensify urban renewal initiatives, with special focus on road construction, drainage expansion, and modernization of markets to improve economic activities and living conditions within the state capital and surrounding areas.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to rural development, promising increased investments in feeder roads, water supply projects, healthcare facilities, and educational infrastructure in underserved communities across Kano State.
According to him, agriculture and youth empowerment would remain central to his administration’s priorities, as the government aims to create more employment opportunities and support local farmers through expanded empowerment programmes.
Yusuf further pledged to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the education sector while promoting peace, unity, and inclusive governance throughout the state.
He noted that his administration would continue aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in order to attract more federal projects and economic opportunities to Kano State.
The governor expressed appreciation to residents of Kano for their continued support and trust in his leadership, assuring them of greater dedication, transparent governance, and people-focused policies if re-elected in 2027.
