In Kaduna South Senatorial District, incumbent senator Sunday Marshall Katung also won the party’s senatorial primary to secure a return ticket.
Katung defeated former Senator Danjuma Tella Laah and Michael Ayuba Auta in the exercise conducted across the eight local government areas within the district.
Announcing the results at the collation centre in Jema’a Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Prof. John Laah of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and credible.
According to the final figures, Katung polled 7,453 votes to defeat Danjuma Laah, who secured 1,370 votes, while Michael Auta recorded 878 votes.
Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Joseph Bege Gaiya, said the results reflected the true wishes of party members at the grassroots level.
He noted that the conduct of the primaries demonstrated the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and fairness within the party.
