Nollywood actor Stan Nze has thrown his support behind Peter Obi, saying no Nigerian should face intimidation or threats simply for aspiring to lead the country.
Nze made the remarks in a video posted on his Instagram page after watching Obi’s recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where the former Anambra State governor expressed fears about his safety and alleged that his business interests were being targeted because of his political views.
Reacting to the interview, the actor said he was deeply moved by Obi’s comments.
“I saw this video yesterday, and it really broke me. It did things to me that I cannot even express,” Nze said.
He stressed that leadership should not come at the cost of personal safety.
“No one should be made to go through these things because they want to lead. Simply because they want to lead and see Nigeria be better,” he added.
Nze explained that his support is not based on ethnicity but on his desire to see Nigeria governed by leaders who genuinely care about the country’s progress.
“I’m not looking for Peter Obi. I’m not looking for tribe; I’m not looking for Igbo. What I’m looking for is a person that would do the right thing… the person that would carry Nigeria in their heart and lead them forward,” he said.
The actor recalled that he previously supported former presidential aspirant Fela Durotoye, insisting his choices have always been based on leadership qualities rather than tribal affiliation.
He also noted that Nigerians from every ethnic group suffer the consequences of poor governance.
“This is not a tribal war. It’s a call for change, for genuine change. A call to end bad governance. Let’s just have people in governance that feel what the people feel,” Nze stated.
The actor further encouraged Nigerians to participate in the electoral process by taking advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise.
“Start your process. If you need to move your PVC to somewhere close to you, please do it… don’t be left out this season. God bless Nigeria,” he urged.
