Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she is not part of any campaign council and intends to stay out of politics.
The actress made her position known in an Instagram Story on Thursday, shortly after her name appeared on the list of members of the campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
The campaign council list, released ahead of its scheduled inauguration on Friday, September 18, included Abraham alongside several prominent entertainers.
Among those listed were veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actress Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright. Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also listed.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka was listed as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko was named Co-Director and Badmus Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was listed as Secretary, with Dare Olateju named Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainment personalities listed in the directorate include Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola and Kikelomo Balogun.
The list also included musicians such as Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa; and Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor, alongside other entertainers.
Despite Abraham’s public rejection of the reported inclusion, her name remained on the published list of the 33-member Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The campaign council is part of the Lagos APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with its formal inauguration scheduled for September 18 at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Abraham’s latest statement makes clear that, regardless of her name appearing on the list, she does not consider herself a member of the campaign council and does not want to participate in political campaigning.
