Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States following fresh threats from President Donald Trump, as tensions continue to rise despite ongoing peace talks between Washington and Tehran.
The warning came after Trump said the US could take military action against Iran if it failed to stop Hezbollah from escalating tensions in Lebanon.
Speaking during negotiations in Switzerland, Iranian officials cautioned Washington against what they described as provocative statements, insisting that Tehran was prepared to respond if necessary.
The latest exchange highlights the fragile state of efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement after months of conflict that has shaken the Middle East and disrupted global markets.
Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that the country’s armed forces were ready to react to any threat, stressing that Tehran would not be intimidated.
Meanwhile, talks between US and Iranian officials continued in Switzerland, with both sides seeking a broader agreement aimed at reducing tensions across the region.
Despite the diplomatic efforts, major disagreements remain unresolved, particularly over Lebanon, regional security issues, sanctions, and Iran’s nuclear programme.
Iran has maintained that it has no intention of developing nuclear weapons but insists it will not surrender its right to enrich uranium.
The negotiations are also taking place amid renewed concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route that Iran recently threatened to close again following Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
As diplomatic discussions continue, uncertainty remains over whether the talks will produce a lasting breakthrough or if fresh tensions could push the region back toward conflict.
