Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema has earned another major international recognition after Billboard ranked his global smash hit “Calm Down” as the 6th greatest one-hit wonder of the 21st century.
The achievement highlights the massive impact of the song, which became a worldwide sensation following the release of its remix featuring American pop star Selena Gomez.
Originally released in 2022, Calm Down enjoyed remarkable success on global charts, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending a record 58 weeks at the top of the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
Speaking previously with Billboard, Rema revealed he took a chance by inviting Selena Gomez to join the remix and was thrilled when she accepted.
The recognition further cements the singer’s place among Africa’s biggest music exports and one of Afrobeats’ most successful global ambassadors.
