American singer Chris Brown has sparked reactions online after launching a fiery attack on critics, celebrities and the music industry in a series of Instagram posts.
Brown expressed frustration over what he described as fake support and said he was no longer interested in seeking approval from people in the entertainment industry.
In the lengthy Instagram Story posts, the singer declared himself “the king” and insisted that he considers himself the best artist, regardless of what his critics think.
Brown also said he was tired of trying to remain humble and suggested that he was prepared to embrace the negative image some people have of him.
The outburst came shortly after Brown and fellow R&B star Usher were honoured during an R&B Tour event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
US lawmaker Jasmine Crockett reportedly entered the names of both singers into the congressional record, while Texas state representative Venton Jones also recognised their contributions to R&B music in the state.
However, Jones later apologised to his constituents for honouring Brown, pointing to the singer’s history of domestic violence.
Brown subsequently criticised the decision to withdraw or reconsider the recognition, adding to the controversy surrounding the honour.
His latest Instagram posts have since attracted attention from fans and critics, with the singer making it clear that he does not believe he needs the approval of other celebrities or industry figures.
The Grammy-winning musician has remained one of the biggest names in R&B and pop music, but his career has also been accompanied by controversies that have continued to draw public attention.
