Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, popularly known as Soso, has opened up about romantic scenes in movies, insisting that onscreen kissing should be treated strictly as part of the job and not as a source of enjoyment.
The actress shared her views during a recent interview with TVC while reacting to comments from some actors who complained about never experiencing a “good kiss” during movie productions.
According to Soso, actors are expected to remain professional during intimate scenes because the goal is simply to make the performance believable for viewers.
She explained that she personally avoids deep kissing during movie scenes and does not use her tongue while acting.
The actress revealed that she keeps her mouth closed during kissing scenes and only uses her lips to avoid exchanging saliva with co-stars.
“I don’t kiss with my tongue,” Soso said during the interview.
She stressed that movie kissing is purely acting and should not be approached as something meant for pleasure.
According to her, there is no reason actors should become emotionally or physically carried away while filming romantic scenes.
Soso also reacted to comments from some colleagues who publicly admitted that onscreen kisses are often awkward and not enjoyable.
She found it strange that actors would complain about not having a satisfying kiss on set since, in her opinion, the scenes are simply professional performances.
Her comments have sparked reactions online, with many social media users debating the realities of romantic scenes in Nollywood and the professionalism expected from actors.
The discussion comes shortly after some actors, including Saga Adeolu, shared experiences about kissing scenes in movies and how different they are from real-life romance.
