Popular actress and media personality Beverly Osu has spoken out against the culture of blaming people who are deceived in romantic relationships.
The Nollywood star shared her opinion on Instagram, where she criticised society for often shaming individuals who genuinely trust and love their partners while ignoring those who intentionally lie and manipulate others.
According to Beverly Osu, many people are quick to mock or judge victims of emotional deceit instead of holding accountable the individuals who fake their character, intentions and feelings in relationships.
The actress stressed that trusting someone should not be treated as a weakness or something shameful.
She argued that the real problem lies with people who deliberately deceive others for personal gain or emotional manipulation.
Beverly Osu further urged society to shift its focus away from blaming victims and start calling out dishonest behaviour in relationships.
Her comments have sparked conversations online, with many social media users agreeing that victims of emotional manipulation are often unfairly criticised.
Others also praised the actress for speaking openly about relationship toxicity and emotional accountability.
The discussion comes at a time when conversations around love, trust, manipulation and emotional abuse continue to trend heavily on social media.
