Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has spoken strongly against the growing trend of celebrities posting old chats and unreplied messages after someone passes away.
During a recent appearance on the BTC Podcast, the actress said she finds the behaviour fake and unnecessary, accusing some people of ignoring others while they are alive only to seek attention online after their death.
Etinosa warned colleagues never to post her private messages if she dies, saying she would rather people show love and support while others are still alive.
“Don’t post my DM when I die,” she said during the interview, adding humorously that she would “wake up and slap” anyone who tried it.
The actress also criticised movie producers and entertainment figures who allegedly refuse to work with actors during their lifetime but later flood social media with emotional tributes after their death.
According to her, many of those public messages are not genuine and are often done for online sympathy and engagement.
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing that social media mourning has become too performative.
Others, however, argued that people grieve differently and may simply be expressing regret publicly.
Etinosa, known for speaking her mind on controversial topics, has once again stirred conversations across social media with her blunt remarks.
