The governorship aspirant backed by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Senator Ahmed Wadada, has called for forgiveness and unity among party members as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
He made the appeal while engaging stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja ahead of formally submitting his nomination forms.
Speaking during a meeting at the Nasarawa State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday, Wadada urged party members and supporters to embrace reconciliation in order to strengthen unity within the party.
According to him, forgiveness remains essential for political stability and collective success as the state moves toward the 2027 general elections.
He expressed gratitude for the support he has received so far, promising not to take the confidence of party members for granted.
The senator also appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for endorsing his candidacy, describing the move as a strong signal of trust and commitment to party cohesion.
Wadada commended other aspirants who stepped down following the governor’s endorsement, praising their decision as an act of loyalty and unity within the APC.
He also acknowledged key party stakeholders, including the state APC chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, and other political leaders for their role in strengthening the party’s structure.
A chieftain of the APC in Nasarawa State, Dr Ahmed Mohammed Musa, also expressed support for Wadada’s emergence, urging members to accept him as the consensus candidate.
He stressed that while all aspirants were qualified, the decision should be respected as a collective and divine choice.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, also encouraged residents to rally behind Wadada, noting that his candidacy would ensure continuity of the state’s development agenda.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, expressed confidence in Wadada’s chances, citing strong backing from the current administration.
After submitting his nomination forms, Wadada revealed that all 13 local government chairmen in Nasarawa State had endorsed his governorship ambition.
He also noted strong support from the state legislature, including the Speaker, principal officers, and members of the House of Assembly.
Outlining his plans, Wadada emphasized Nasarawa’s strategic location near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing it as a major economic advantage.
He said the state could leverage its proximity to Abuja to attract investment and drive economic growth.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking increased federal allocations to recent economic reforms, including subsidy removal, and urged Nigerians to support ongoing national policies.
As the race toward 2027 begins to take shape, Ahmed Wadada is positioning himself as a consensus candidate backed by party leadership and stakeholders. His message of forgiveness, unity, and continuity signals an early push to consolidate support ahead of the governorship election.
