United States Congressman Riley Moore has once again renewed his call for the decentralization of Nigeria’s police system, emphasizing the need for state governments to play a more active role in managing local security.
In a statement shared via X (formerly Twitter), Moore urged the Federal Government to strengthen its response to the country’s growing insecurity, particularly in the Middle Belt region, where communities have continued to suffer repeated attacks by extremist groups.
The lawmaker has remained vocal about Nigeria’s security challenges, drawing international attention to issues such as the persecution of Christians and the increasing threat of extremism. His stance closely reflects the broader foreign policy outlook associated with Donald Trump.
Demonstrating his commitment beyond rhetoric, Moore recently led a bipartisan congressional delegation to Nigeria to gain firsthand insight into the situation. During the visit, the delegation engaged with victims, religious leaders, and senior government officials to better understand the depth of the crisis.
He has also pushed for Nigeria to be redesignated as a Country of Particular Concern—a classification initially introduced under the Trump administration—citing ongoing concerns about widespread religious persecution.
