The South-West Coordinating Deputy Inspector General of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has expressed confidence that the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State will soon regain their freedom as security agencies intensify rescue efforts.
The assurance comes amid growing concern over the fate of the victims, who were kidnapped during attacks on schools in parts of Oyo State.
Speaking during an official visit to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Fayoade said security agencies and government authorities are working tirelessly to secure the safe release of the victims.
According to him, all available resources are being deployed to ensure the children and their teachers return home safely.
“I can assure you within the shortest possible time, the children and their teachers will be free.”
The DIG stressed that the focus of security agencies remains on rescuing the victims rather than discussing ransom demands.
He noted that law enforcement authorities are committed to using every available strategy to bring the ordeal to an end and reunite the victims with their families.
Beyond the abduction case, Fayoade also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen policing across the South-West through improved manpower, better welfare for officers, intelligence-led operations and increased use of technology.
He revealed that the Nigeria Police Force is investing heavily in modern crime-fighting tools, including artificial intelligence and advanced data systems designed to improve investigations and crime prevention.
The senior police officer also assured Nigerians that security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and property while improving transparency and public engagement.
His comments come as families of the abducted pupils and teachers continue to hope for positive news regarding the victims’ safe return.
