UEFA has set September 2, 2026, as the deadline for clubs to submit their List A squads for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase.
Under the competition regulations, clubs must submit their squads and have them validated by their respective national associations by 11:59pm CET on Wednesday, September 2.
Teams can register a maximum of 25 players on List A, with at least two required to be goalkeepers. At least eight of the 25 places must be reserved for locally trained players, although no more than four of those can be association-trained players.
Clubs that have fewer than eight locally trained players will have their maximum squad size reduced accordingly.
UEFA also allows clubs to register an unlimited number of eligible players on List B throughout the season. However, List B submissions must be completed by 11:59pm CET on the day before the relevant match.
Players who meet UEFA’s age and registration requirements can qualify for List B, including those born on or after January 1, 2005, who have spent the required period registered with their club.
UEFA has also clarified that players who appeared for another club during the qualifying rounds or play-offs of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League can represent a different club from the league phase onwards.
Clubs that progress to the knockout stage will be allowed to make up to three squad changes, with the deadline for those additions set for February 4, 2027.
The regulations also allow temporary replacements in cases of long-term injuries or illnesses. Outfield players unavailable for at least 60 days can be replaced during the league phase up to Matchday 6, while separate provisions apply to injured or unavailable goalkeepers.
The 2026/27 Champions League league phase is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2026, while the final will be played on June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid.
