The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has defended President Bola Tinubu against claims that political office holders maintain lavish lifestyles despite the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians.
Adedeji made the remarks while appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he was questioned about the lifestyle of government officials amid rising living costs and economic pressures across the country.
According to the NRS boss, Tinubu does not live an extravagant lifestyle despite being Nigeria’s President.
Adedeji said the President’s daily routine and personal habits do not reflect the lavish lifestyle being attributed to him.
He claimed that Tinubu typically walks from his residence to his office, only using a vehicle when he needs to travel to the airport.
The NRS chairman also made another notable claim about the President’s personal routine, saying Tinubu eats only once a day.
“The President eats once a day,” Adedeji said, presenting the claim as part of his argument that Tinubu does not live extravagantly.
The comments came during a discussion about the lifestyle of political leaders at a time when many Nigerians continue to face economic pressures and rising costs of living.
Adedeji maintained that occupying the highest political office in the country does not necessarily mean that Tinubu lives a lavish personal life.
His comments have drawn attention online, particularly the claim about the President eating only once daily, as the debate over government spending and the living conditions of Nigerians continues.
