Nigerian singer and songwriter Brymo has revealed that winning awards is not a priority for him, insisting that his focus remains on creating meaningful music and building a lasting legacy.
The acclaimed musician made the remarks while discussing his latest album, Shaitan, during an interview on TVC.
According to Brymo, some of his song and album titles are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and encourage listeners to pay attention to the deeper messages behind his music.
The singer explained that attracting attention is a common strategy in business, but he prefers thought-provoking concepts over content created solely to generate controversy.
“You can’t threaten me with some flashy award because I know what I’m doing,” Brymo said.
Speaking further, the artiste stated that external recognition does not determine his value or success in the music industry.
He maintained that his goal is to create quality music that resonates with listeners and stands the test of time rather than chasing validation through awards.
Brymo also questioned the credibility of some award platforms, alleging that lobbying and financial influence sometimes play a role in determining winners.
According to him, he would rather focus on his craft and personal growth than spend resources trying to gain recognition through award systems.
The singer added that true success is measured by impact, fulfillment, and the ability to earn a living from one’s work.
For Brymo, creating music that connects with people and sustains his career is more important than collecting trophies.
