Residents of Ondo State have been thrown into fear and uncertainty following the abduction of a local government employee and a female filling station attendant in two separate attacks within hours.
The first incident occurred on Sunday evening when armed men reportedly stormed a community in Akure North Local Government Area and kidnapped Samson Gbenga Sanni, a local government staff member popularly known as “Timber.”
According to reports, Sanni had just returned home from work when the attackers struck. Witnesses said the gunmen allegedly laid in wait near his residence before carrying out the operation.
The victim was reportedly taken away in the presence of his wife and two children, leaving family members and neighbours in shock.
The incident has sparked concerns among residents who fear a growing wave of insecurity in parts of the state.
Confirming the development, the Ondo State Police Command said security operatives and tactical teams have been deployed to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade assured residents that efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted worker and bring those responsible to justice.
In a separate incident that has further heightened anxiety, a female filling station attendant was reportedly kidnapped by suspected gunmen in the Emure-Ile area of Owo Local Government Area.
Sources within the community said the woman was abducted during the early hours of Monday and taken to an unknown location by her captors.
The back-to-back kidnappings have renewed concerns over security in several communities across Ondo State, with residents calling for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
As investigations continue, many families remain hopeful that both victims will be rescued safely and reunited with their loved ones.
