Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has insisted that the club remains confident of proving its innocence over the long-running Premier League financial charges against it.
Reports emerged on Friday that an independent tribunal had reached decisions on more than 100 allegations involving alleged breaches of the league’s financial regulations. However, the Premier League has not officially announced the outcome, and details of any possible punishment remain unclear.
City have consistently denied the allegations, and Al Mubarak used a message to supporters on Saturday to reaffirm the club’s position.
He said the legal process was still ongoing and insisted that the club had not changed its stance despite the latest reports.
“The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began,” Al Mubarak said.
The City chairman explained that the club could not publicly disclose everything it knows about the case because of the confidentiality surrounding the legal proceedings.
“There are so many things that I would like to be able to share with you to help you understand why we feel so confident in our position.”
He added that the club’s decision to respect the legal process prevented him from revealing further details at this stage.
Al Mubarak also addressed the reaction surrounding the case, saying that some people had already formed conclusions despite the process not being completed.
“While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed,” he said.
The chairman maintained that Manchester City had overcome difficult situations in the past and would remain focused on defending its position.
“We have faced challenges together before and have prevailed. There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our club. We will not give them that opportunity.”
The latest development leaves the case hanging over the Premier League champions, with the league yet to formally announce the tribunal’s decision or any potential sanctions.
For now, Manchester City continue to maintain that they have done nothing wrong and remain determined to establish their innocence through the ongoing legal process.
