President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as a dedicated leader who remains committed to completing every assignment entrusted to him.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday while commissioning the newly completed Collector Road C01 and its bridge in Abuja’s Institution and Research District.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said the rapid transformation of the Federal Capital Territory reflects his administration’s broader vision for national development.
Commending Wike’s performance, the President said the minister has consistently delivered on major infrastructure projects.
“He has proven once again that when he is given a job, he does not sleep until it is done,” Tinubu said.
The President stressed that infrastructure remains the foundation of economic growth, saying roads and bridges help attract investments, create jobs and improve the quality of life.
“When you build roads, you open up districts. When you open up districts, you invite investment. And when investment comes, Nigeria grows,” he said.
Tinubu added that the ongoing transformation in Abuja is a preview of what his administration intends to achieve across the country.
“The transformation of Abuja is a microcosm of the transformation we are bringing to the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.
He recalled that the road project was approved after the Body of Benchers complained about poor road access and traffic congestion around the Nigerian Law School during last year’s Call to Bar ceremony.
“We did not just talk about it. We approved it under emergency procurement. And today, just months later, here we are,” he said.
The President noted that the project created employment opportunities and has significantly improved access for students, lecturers and residents in the area.
Speaking at the event, Nyesom Wike revealed that the inauguration marked the 21st project commissioned in the FCT under the current administration.
He thanked President Tinubu for providing the financial support needed to execute infrastructure projects and for removing the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), a move he said has accelerated project delivery.
