New details have surfaced surrounding the death of veteran Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi, who reportedly died in Abuja on Monday.
According to information shared by his family, the 66-year-old had been taken to a hospital after falling ill and was diagnosed with an ulcer. He was given medication and later returned home to rest. However, he tragically did not wake up the following morning.
The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, disclosed that a conversation with the actor’s daughter revealed he had complained of severe chest pain on Sunday night.
His wife reportedly discovered him unresponsive around 4:00 a.m. on Monday when she attempted to wake him, marking a heartbreaking end to the actor’s life.
Akiyesi, who hailed from Edo State, was a respected figure in Nollywood, boasting a career that spanned more than 20 years and featured appearances in over 100 films.

Actress Celestina Dovigalle described him as a gifted and versatile performer who brought warmth, energy, and joy to every production he was part of, underscoring the significant loss his passing represents for the Nigerian film industry.
