Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed ₦50 million in grants to 1,000 women traders in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State to support and expand their small businesses.
The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji, said the initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s efforts to improve the welfare of women and children across the country.
Speaking during the event in Iwo, she said the programme also reflects the APC’s commitment to improving the lives of residents if elected in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The beneficiaries, selected from various markets across the state, were encouraged to use the grants wisely to grow their businesses and improve their families’ livelihoods.
Mrs. Oyebamiji assured traders that an APC administration in Osun State would implement policies aimed at supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through grants, soft loans, business-friendly regulations and entrepreneurship programmes.
“Empowering small business owners remains one of the fastest ways to stimulate local economies, create jobs and reduce unemployment,” she said.
She added that the proposed administration would complement the Federal Government’s economic reforms with programmes specifically designed to meet the needs of Osun residents.
The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, commended the initiative and called for increased government investment in Iwo and the entire Osun West Senatorial District.
