The Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse has announced a major milestone, revealing that it successfully resolved 750 civil and business disputes within one year while achieving an impressive 85 percent success rate.
The achievement was disclosed by the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse, King Collins Daniel, during a media briefing ahead of the institution’s second Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Conference in Yenagoa.
According to Daniel, the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body has continued to provide individuals, businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders with faster and less confrontational ways of settling disputes outside the traditional courtroom process.
He noted that the success of the courthouse has helped boost public confidence in Alternative Dispute Resolution as an effective tool for achieving justice.
“So far, from my record, the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse has resolved a total of 750 civil and business cases in one year and recorded an 85% success rate,” Daniel said.
He explained that the institution remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and efficient justice delivery through amicable conflict resolution.
Daniel also recalled the success of the maiden stakeholders’ conference, which attracted participation from judges, lawyers, traditional rulers, business leaders, civil society groups, and government agencies.
According to him, discussions from the first conference helped increase awareness of the courthouse’s services and strengthened trust in ADR mechanisms.
The second edition of the conference is expected to build on those achievements and further encourage the use of alternative dispute resolution in Bayelsa State.
“We believe that through sustained stakeholder engagement and policy dialogue, the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse will continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of a more responsive, efficient, and people-oriented justice system,” he added.
The courthouse also extended invitations to members of the legal profession, public institutions, students, traditional leaders, and the wider public to participate in the upcoming event.
