The Lagos State Police Command has stepped in to calm fears following concerns over a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area near Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki.
In response to the growing public anxiety, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, visited the institution to assess the security situation and reassure students, staff, and parents.
The police chief, accompanied by security personnel, inspected the area and held discussions with the university’s management on ways to strengthen safety measures around the campus.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the visit was part of efforts to prevent potential security threats and maintain a safe learning environment.
CP Jimoh stressed the importance of improving perimeter security, access control systems, and collaboration with security agencies to address emerging risks.
To further boost surveillance, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has deployed drones around the university and surrounding communities.
The drones are expected to enhance aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention efforts within the area.
“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” CP Jimoh said.
He also assured members of the university community that the police remain ready to respond swiftly to any security concerns.
The commissioner urged residents, students, and staff to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The development comes after the circulation of a video that triggered concerns about possible security threats around the institution.
Authorities, however, have moved quickly to reassure the public while strengthening surveillance and security operations in the area.
