Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has opened up on why she is often seen playing strict, wicked, and controversial characters in movies.
Speaking during a recent video chat, the celebrated actress said she is proud of the roles because they help expose the negative behaviours and social problems that exist in society.
According to Ozokwo, many viewers wrongly assume that her real-life personality is the same as the tough and villainous characters she portrays on screen. However, she stressed that acting is simply her profession and should not be confused with who she truly is.
The 67-year-old actress explained that her goal is to bring societal issues to light and teach valuable lessons through her performances, adding that many fans understand the message behind the characters she plays.
“I am not like that, but I expose it. I am extremely proud of myself,” she said.
For decades, Mama G has become one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces, earning fame for portraying strict mothers, wicked stepmothers, and other powerful antagonistic roles.
Despite her reputation on screen, she maintains that the characters are fictional and completely different from her real-life personality.
