In a significant crackdown on unlawful fuel-related activities, the Delhi Police have dismantled an illegal LPG storage and refilling operation in Palam Village, located in South West Delhi. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a large quantity of domestic gas cylinders along with refilling equipment.
The raid was carried out on March 28, 2026, by officials from Police Station Palam Village, following credible intelligence regarding suspicious LPG storage at a vacant plot near Adarsh Gali. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a police team reached the location in the early hours to verify the information.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered a tempo loaded with a considerable number of Bharat Gas cylinders. Additional cylinders were found scattered across the open plot. Further investigation revealed that the suspects were engaged in the illegal transfer of gas from one cylinder to another using nozzles and a weighing machine.
The entire operation was being conducted without adherence to any safety protocols, posing a serious risk to nearby residents. The absence of proper handling measures significantly increased the likelihood of fire hazards or explosions in the area.
The police have since taken the suspects into custody and seized a total of 45 domestic gas cylinders, along with the equipment used for refilling and the transport vehicle. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against such illegal and dangerous activities to ensure public safety.
