Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed why he stopped attending church services 13 years ago, saying his decision was based on his personal relationship with God.
The 66-year-old actor made the disclosure during a recent interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he explained that he did not believe his worship should be confined to a particular day of the week.
Solade said that although he no longer attends formal church services, he remains a child of God and considers his faith central to his life.
“I stopped going to church 13 years ago because I was not finding it funny any longer, though I am a child of God.”
The actor argued that organising worship around a specific day does not define his relationship with God.
“My life is not orchestrated towards a particular day. There is no Sunday in the Bible.”
Solade also said he believes God is present in his life and credited his relationship with God as fundamental to his existence.
“Without God, I will not be alive.”
He stressed that his decision to stop attending church should not be interpreted as abandoning his faith, maintaining that his spiritual beliefs remain an important part of his life.
The actor also spoke about his approach to personal relationships, explaining that while he maintains a broad connection with society and receives affection from fans, he deliberately keeps some distance from personal intimacy.
According to Solade, maintaining that boundary helps him protect his peace.
