Liverpool have completed the signing of France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth up to £123 million, further strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
The transfer was confirmed by BBC Sport, with Liverpool paying an initial £106 million, while a further £17 million could be triggered through add-ons.
Barcola, 23, has signed a five-year contract and becomes Liverpool’s fifth new signing of the summer, following Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
The France international said he was delighted to finally complete the move after what he described as a lengthy process.
“It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool.”
Barcola also outlined his immediate ambition at Anfield, saying winning the Premier League is one of his biggest dreams.
“First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life.”
The former PSG forward said his previous experiences playing at Anfield also influenced his decision to join Liverpool.
Barcola recalled witnessing the atmosphere inside the stadium and the support from Liverpool fans during his previous appearances there.
He said that once he became aware of Liverpool’s interest, he did not hesitate because of the club’s reputation and history.
Barcola will wear the No. 29 shirt at Liverpool.
His arrival comes as the Premier League champions continue to reshape their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
Manchester City are reportedly in talks with Liverpool over Cody Gakpo, while Liverpool are also monitoring Brighton forward Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace attacker Ismaila Sarr.
The £123 million agreement for Barcola represents another major investment by Liverpool as they prepare for the new campaign and attempt to retain their Premier League title.
