Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued a kidnapped man in Kaduna State and thwarted a terrorist attack in Sokoto State as security operations continue across the North-West.
The Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Danja said troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on August 20, 2026, after a 43-year-old man was abducted around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops pursued the terrorists into nearby bushes, forcing them to abandon their victim and escape. The rescued man was later reunited with his family.
In a separate operation on August 21, troops of Sector 2, working with local security personnel, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops engaged the attackers and forced them to retreat.
During the pursuit, one terrorist was neutralised, while soldiers recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene.
Operation Fansan Yamma said it remains committed to maintaining pressure on terrorists and preventing them from operating freely across the Joint Operations Area.
The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and efforts to restore lasting peace.
