The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is reviewing the results of Saturday’s governorship election across the state’s 332 wards before deciding on its next course of action.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information in Osun, Kola Olabisi, on Sunday, the APC said it would examine all constitutionally permitted legal options under the Electoral Act 2026, as amended.
The party argued that an election process does not necessarily end with the declaration of results, noting that electoral disputes can proceed through the tribunal, Court of Appeal and ultimately the Supreme Court.
“An election cannot be said to have been concluded without having explored all these constitutionally allowed legal opportunity to enrich the nation’s jurisprudence as enshrined in the Electoral Act 2026 as amended.”
The APC said it would consult its team of lawyers and consider its next step based on their professional advice.
The party also appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm, continue with their normal activities and avoid responding to provocative actions.
“It is not over until it is over,” the party said.
The APC further called on the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members and supporters, alleging that some of them were being subjected to unnecessary harassment by opposition supporters.
The party described the current political situation in Osun as a temporary phase that would eventually become part of the state’s political history.
The development followed INEC’s declaration of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke as winner of the governorship election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
INEC recorded 1,005,800 total votes cast, including 985,079 valid votes, while 1,010,684 voters were accredited across the state’s 30 local government areas.
The election featured candidates from 15 political parties.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Adeleke on his victory, while the Osun governor has also received congratulatory messages from several state governors.
