Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has described the ADC as a political platform that now attracts what he called the “best of Nigerians” as the party intensifies its campaign ahead of the Osun governorship election.
Atiku spoke on Monday in Osogbo during the grand finale of the ADC governorship campaign rally, where he urged residents to vote for the party’s candidate, Najeem Salaam, in Saturday’s election.
The former vice president said the ADC was different from other political parties and appealed to voters to give the party their support.
“The ADC I can assure you is different from APC, is different from Accord, is different from all other parties because the best of Nigerians is today in ADC,” Atiku said.
He assured supporters that they would not regret voting for the party, saying he personally attended the rally to seek their support for Salaam.
“I believe you will not regret voting ADC in the forthcoming elections,” he added.
Atiku also thanked supporters for the large turnout at the campaign, saying the crowd had strengthened the party’s confidence that victory was possible.
The rally was attended by ADC National Secretary and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, National Chairman David Mark and other party leaders.
Aregbesola said the ADC was contesting the election independently and expressed confidence in the party’s chances.
Salaam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, is the ADC candidate in the poll.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam among the major contenders.
