Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has dismissed claims by singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, that he bit him during their recent celebrity boxing rematch held in Lagos.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday, Okocha insisted that the allegation was false, explaining that he wore a mouth guard throughout the fight, making it impossible for him to bite his opponent.
The celebrity boxing rematch took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos on Friday, where Okocha was declared the winner after Portable was disqualified for violating the rules of the contest.
Portable was disqualified after abandoning the approved boxing techniques and throwing punches outside the rules before eventually walking out of the ring.
Following the bout, the singer accused Okocha of biting him on the back and locking his neck during the fight while questioning why the actor participated in the contest.
Reacting to the allegations, Okocha rejected the claims and said Portable was simply refusing to accept defeat.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
The actor also joked that he had no reason to bite the singer.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I don’t want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I wouldn’t do that. He should just accept defeat,” he added.
Okocha maintained that Portable should move on from the outcome of the highly publicised rematch instead of making allegations about what happened inside the ring.
The boxing contest attracted widespread attention, coming after the duo’s previous celebrity fight and their long-running public rivalry.
