The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has warned the public against a fake document requesting financial support for the production, printing and nationwide distribution of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of NERDC, Prof. Salisu Shehu, described the document as fake, unauthorised and misleading, stressing that the council did not issue any letter seeking funds from individuals, organisations or institutions.
“Our attention has been drawn to fake documents and letters claiming to be from the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). The management of NERDC hereby strongly and unequivocally disclaims any document or correspondence requesting support for the production, printing and distribution of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum,” he said.
Prof. Shehu explained that all necessary arrangements for producing, printing and distributing the revised curriculum have already been made through the appropriate federal and state education authorities, agencies and departments.
He urged government institutions, schools, development partners, stakeholders and members of the public to ignore any letter or document requesting financial support on behalf of NERDC for the curriculum exercise.
The NERDC boss also assured Nigerians that the council remains committed to protecting the integrity of the nation’s education curriculum and ensuring transparency in all its official communications.
He added that any genuine information concerning the Revised Basic Education Curriculum would only be released through NERDC’s official communication channels.
