The Kebbi State Government has dismissed claims that it has abandoned communities affected by banditry and terrorism, insisting that it remains fully committed to protecting lives and restoring peace across the state.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the government described reports circulating on social media and by some opposition figures as false and misleading.
According to the statement, tackling insecurity involves sensitive operations that cannot always be disclosed to the public, stressing that the absence of public announcements does not mean the government is inactive.
“Security matters are highly sensitive, and not every strategy, intelligence-gathering effort, or operational action undertaken by government can or should be discussed publicly,” the statement said.
The government maintained that Governor Nasir Idris is actively leading efforts to combat insecurity in collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders across the state.
It said the administration’s goal is to ensure residents can go about their daily activities safely, while farmers are able to return to their farmlands without fear.
“The Governor is not standing on the sidelines. He is actively leading the state’s efforts against insecurity, working closely with the relevant security agencies and other critical stakeholders to safeguard lives and property,” the statement added.
The government also criticised those using the security situation for political arguments, noting that solving insecurity requires cooperation, intelligence gathering, careful planning and, in some cases, confidentiality.
It urged the public to rely on verified information rather than sensational claims, reaffirming its commitment to supporting security agencies and ensuring lasting peace, stability and development in Kebbi State.
The statement concluded by assuring residents that the government would continue to do everything within its constitutional powers to improve security and protect communities across the state.
