Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has revealed why he has never publicly endorsed any politician or political party, saying he prefers to promote free, fair and credible elections rather than campaign for candidates.
Speaking on civic participation ahead of future elections, the rapper clarified that his role has always been to encourage Nigerians to vote, not to support any political figure.
“I’ve never, in 2023 or at any point, openly supported any politician or political party. I’ve only actively encouraged people to go out to vote,” Falz said.
According to him, he has avoided endorsing politicians because he believes Nigeria’s political class has remained largely unchanged over the years.
“It’s tough to even sit anywhere and vouch for a Nigerian politician in 2026,” he said.
Falz, however, noted that he could change his position if he eventually finds a candidate he believes in completely.
He also dismissed claims that votes do not count, arguing that politicians would not engage in vote-buying if elections were meaningless.
“If it didn’t matter, there wouldn’t be vote-buying,” he said.
The rapper further called for the live electronic transmission of election results, saying it would improve transparency and strengthen Nigeria’s democracy. He also urged Nigerians, especially young people, to participate actively in elections instead of staying away from the polls.
