African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has offered to support controversial disc jockey and TikTok personality, DJ Chicken, following his arraignment over alleged threats against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
In a post shared on his X account on Monday, Sowore said he was willing to assist the social media personality and help challenge what he described as excessive charges filed against him by the police.
“If anyone knows how to reach DJ Chicken’s family or relatives, I will be happy to advocate for him and help him challenge the burdensome charges,” Sowore wrote.
The former presidential candidate also argued that DJ Chicken should not be behind bars, insisting that he deserves his constitutional right to liberty while his case is being heard.
According to Sowore, many young Nigerians need guidance, opportunities and justice rather than what he described as unnecessary persecution.
DJ Chicken was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and offences under the Cybercrime Act.
The charges followed a viral video in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.
After the video sparked public outrage, DJ Chicken released another video apologising and explaining that his comments were meant as a joke to attract attention, insisting he had no intention of carrying out the threat.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The court granted him ₦1 million bail with two sureties in like sum but ordered that he remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until he meets the bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026, for further hearing.
