Stella Maris Okafor, the widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has denied allegations that she secretly sold her late husband’s properties and kept the proceeds.
Speaking in a video interview with content creator King Mitchy, Stella Maris said the property sale was carried out legally under a court order and involved Mr Ibu’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor.
“We didn’t sell the property secretly. My husband’s two sons and I acted according to a court order. I have every document to prove it,” she said.
The actress also revealed that she now runs an online jewellery business, explaining that she had wanted to start the venture years ago but was discouraged by her late husband while she was still active in acting.
“I sell jewellery online. My late husband stopped me from starting the business years ago because I was acting at the time,” she added.
Stella Maris further disclosed that she plans to leave her current residence because it is too expensive to maintain, noting that she only moved there after her husband’s death due to security concerns.
She also addressed claims by some family members over money donated during Mr Ibu’s burial, alleging they demanded she share funds meant for her children’s welfare.
“They wanted me to share the money people gave me during the burial, but I told them it was meant for my children,” she said.
Her remarks come amid ongoing public attention surrounding the late actor’s family following recent revelations about their financial struggles.
