A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed July 2, 2026, for further hearing in the ₦10 billion fundamental rights suit filed by Nollywood actor and politician Emeka Ike against Lere Olayinka, an aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Justice Salim Ibrahim adjourned the matter after Emeka Ike’s lawyer requested more time to allow the respondents to file their defence.
The actor is suing Lere Olayinka and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged unlawful disclosure of his personal voter registration information.
According to Ike, Olayinka published screenshots of his voter registration details on X (formerly Twitter) without his consent, violating his constitutional right to privacy.
He is asking the court to award ₦10 billion in damages for the alleged breach of his personal data and privacy rights.
The suit also seeks an order directing Olayinka to delete the post and issue a public apology for publishing the information.
INEC had earlier stated that the leak was not caused by external hacking but resulted from the misuse of valid internal credentials by authorised personnel.
The commission is also listed as a defendant in the case, with Ike arguing that it failed in its duty to protect his personal data.
The court adjourned the matter to July 2 for further proceedings after directing that hearing notices be served on the respondents.
