Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has assured residents that political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections will not slow down ongoing infrastructure and development projects across Abuja.
The minister gave the assurance during the flag-off of the construction of service carriageways along the Southern Parkway, one of several projects being executed under the FCT Administration.
According to Wike, the administration remains committed to transforming the nation’s capital and delivering on its development agenda regardless of the political season.
“Politics or no politics, we must continue to do that which Mr President has directed, to make sure that we change the entire landscape of the Federal Capital Territory.”
Responding to concerns that political campaigns could affect project execution, Wike insisted that work would continue uninterrupted as the government focuses on improving infrastructure and public services.
He expressed confidence that Abuja would witness massive transformation before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term in office.
“By the time Mr President finishes his first tenure on May 29, 2027, the landscape of Abuja will entirely change.”
The minister noted that the various road and infrastructure projects being undertaken are aimed at easing transportation challenges, boosting economic activities and improving the quality of life for residents.
The Southern Parkway project is among several initiatives launched to mark President Tinubu’s third year in office and forms part of broader efforts to modernize the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike reiterated that the administration remains focused on delivering visible results and fulfilling its mandate despite increasing political activities ahead of the next election cycle.
