What began as a moment of joy and celebration has ended in tragedy after a young Ghanaian lawyer reportedly died while watching Ghana’s World Cup match against Panama.
Sarah Araba Tettey, a 26-year-old legal practitioner, is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory on Wednesday.
According to reports, Tettey was watching the game with friends at a hostel near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) when she suddenly collapsed during the celebrations.
Witnesses said those around her quickly rushed her to the KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel battled to save her life.
Doctors and nurses reportedly performed CPR for about 45 minutes in an attempt to revive her, but she was later pronounced dead.
The heartbreaking incident has left family members, friends, colleagues and members of Ghana’s legal community in shock.
Tettey was described as a bright and promising young lawyer who had recently been called to the Ghana Bar and had begun her legal career.
Many of her colleagues and former classmates have since paid tribute to her, remembering her dedication, professionalism and passion for the legal profession.

Her body has been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary while the family awaits further arrangements.
