Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of Nollywood actress Judy Austin, has responded to claims that he broke down in tears during a recent podcast interview because of his ex-wife.
The businessman made the clarification in a video shared online after a clip from his appearance on the HonestBunch podcast went viral and sparked widespread reactions on social media.
During the interview, Obasi became emotional while discussing issues surrounding his failed marriage and his relationship with his children, leading many viewers to assume he was still affected by his past relationship with the actress.
However, Obasi has now dismissed those claims, insisting that his emotional moment had nothing to do with Judy Austin.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologise for crying on that podcast; it was not my fault. I was emotional; I didn’t travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry. Forgive me and bear with me; something triggered me,” he said.
According to him, the real reason behind his tears was the pain of being separated from his children.
“I also want the world to know I am not crying over a woman; I am only crying over my children,” Obasi stated.
He explained that his greatest concern remains having a closer relationship with his children rather than revisiting issues from his past marriage.
Obasi also criticised some social media users who focused on the handkerchief he used during the interview instead of the message he was trying to convey.
“Nigerian men should be careful. Imagine your fellow man comes out crying, saying he wants to see his children; you left the matter, and you were talking about his handkerchief; why not focus on what I am saying?” he said.
His latest comments have generated fresh reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for his situation while others continue to debate the issues surrounding his public dispute with Judy Austin.
