Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred major debate online after sharing his controversial opinion on cheating and forgiveness in relationships.
The actor made the remarks during a recent interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he spoke about love, loyalty, emotional attachment, and infidelity.
According to Yul, men who forgive cheating partners are showing weakness, insisting that once a woman becomes unfaithful, she has already emotionally disconnected from the relationship.
Speaking during the podcast, the actor claimed that women naturally love deeply when they truly care about a man, but many men end up in relationships with partners who are emotionally attached to someone else.
“If you meet a woman who truly loves you, she’ll do anything for you. But many men are with women who don’t really love them,” he said.
Yul further explained that in his view, once a woman starts cheating, it is usually a sign that her feelings for her partner are already gone.
“Once a woman begins to cheat, she has checked out emotionally and psychologically,” he stated.
Referencing a recent viral controversy involving an alleged affair between a married woman and a younger man, the actor suggested that emotional loyalty often shifts completely once infidelity enters a relationship.
He claimed the woman involved appeared more emotionally attached to the younger man than to her husband, despite efforts to save the marriage.
Yul also advised men not to become emotionally dependent in relationships, urging them to set boundaries and avoid what he described as “simping.”
According to him, women are naturally attracted to strong men and may lose respect for men they perceive as weak.
“So, there is nothing like forgiveness when it comes to cheating. If you forgive, you are a weak man,” he added.
His comments have since triggered massive reactions online, with many Nigerians disagreeing with his stance while others supported parts of his argument about emotional boundaries in relationships.
