Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has emotionally opened up about the heartbreaking final moments he shared with his first son, Kambilichukwu, before the teenager’s sudden death in 2023.
Speaking during an interview on The Honest Bunch podcast, the actor recalled how what began as a normal, joyful morning quickly turned into one of the darkest moments of his life.
According to Yul, his son came into his room before leaving for school that day, and the two spent time talking, joking, and laughing together.
The actor said they playfully discussed Kambilichukwu’s height, noting that the young boy had grown very tall and was already close to matching his father’s height.
Yul revealed that his son even joked that only one student in his class was taller than him, a conversation that now remains deeply emotional for the actor.
“We talked and joked about his height because he was quite tall. He was almost taller than me at the time,” Yul said during the interview.
The actor explained that after the conversation, his son left for school like every other normal day, with nothing suggesting tragedy was about to strike.
However, only a few hours later, Yul said he received a distressing phone call asking him to come to the hospital urgently.
He rushed there without fully understanding what had happened, only to meet the devastating reality that his son was already dead.
“That was my first son… About three hours after they called me, I came to the hospital and I saw him dead,” he said emotionally.
Yul described the experience as deeply painful, adding that the memory of their final conversation still feels fresh because the morning had been filled with laughter and happiness.
The emotional revelation has stirred reactions online, with many Nigerians sympathising with the actor and reflecting on how unpredictable life can be.
Kambilichukwu Edochie died in March 2023 at the age of 16, a tragedy that shocked fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry.
Since the heartbreaking loss, Yul Edochie has occasionally shared emotional reflections about grief, family, faith, and healing.
