Jumia Nigeria has announced fresh plans to make online shopping more accessible to millions of Nigerians as the company celebrates its 14th anniversary with major discounts, giveaways and new inclusion-focused initiatives.
The e-commerce giant unveiled “14 Years with You” as the official theme for its anniversary celebration, alongside the slogan “Jolly after Jolly,” as it looks to deepen its reach across different income groups in Nigeria.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos ahead of the June 1 launch date, Jumia Nigeria CEO, Temidayo Ojo, said the company’s next phase of growth would focus heavily on affordability, accessibility and inclusion.
According to him, Jumia wants digital commerce to benefit not only wealthy consumers but also middle-income earners, small business owners and everyday Nigerians looking for convenience and cheaper shopping options.
“‘14 Years with You’ reflects our belief that every Nigerian deserves access to the benefits of e-commerce, regardless of income level or location,” Ojo said.
“The idea behind ‘Jolly after Jolly’ is that customers should continue to experience value, convenience and excitement every time they engage with Jumia.”
The company explained that e-commerce in Nigeria has evolved significantly over the past 14 years, growing from what was once considered a risky experiment into a major part of daily life for millions of Nigerians.
Ojo added that Jumia now sees the future of commerce in Africa as one driven by inclusion, technology and cross-border trade opportunities.
“We are building a platform that works not only for the wealthy but also for the middle class and the ambitious everyday Nigerian,” he stated.
As part of the anniversary celebration, Jumia announced several promotional activities designed to attract both new and returning customers throughout June.
The campaign will feature “Explosion Days” deals, Flash Sales, Brand Days and Hourly Voucher Drops across categories including electronics, fashion, home appliances and everyday essentials.
Customers will also have opportunities to participate in interactive games such as Treasure Hunt and Memory Match, with chances to win discounts, vouchers and giveaway rewards.
The anniversary campaign is being powered by Nivea, alongside partner brands including Ecoflow, Skyrun, Aeon, Silver Crest, Oraimo, Infinix and Xiaomi.
Jumia said the initiative is aimed at improving affordability while also boosting customer engagement on its platform.
Over the years, the company has played a major role in Nigeria’s growing digital economy by connecting millions of buyers with local and international sellers while helping to expand logistics and online payment systems.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting small and medium-sized businesses through increased online visibility and wider market access.
Beyond Nigeria, Jumia revealed plans to strengthen intra-African trade by leveraging technology and logistics to connect businesses across the continent under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework.
According to Ojo, Africa’s growing internet usage and youthful population present huge opportunities for digital commerce expansion.
“As African economies become more interconnected, platforms like Jumia have a responsibility to help local businesses scale beyond borders,” he said.
“The future of commerce in Africa will depend heavily on digital infrastructure, accessibility, trust and seamless trade.”
The company confirmed that anniversary activities and promotional campaigns would continue throughout June as part of its long-term investment in Nigeria’s digital economy.
