Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has revealed that one of her hit songs was written during an ordinary bus ride, showing that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places.
Speaking on the Creatorium Podcast, the Mavin Records singer explained how her music-making process has changed over the years as she continues to evolve creatively.
According to Ayra Starr, she no longer depends only on emotions to create songs. Instead, she now experiments with sounds, melodies and different ideas before deciding the direction of a track.
The singer said her debut album was mostly inspired by emotions and personal feelings, but her current style focuses more on creativity and sonic experimentation.
Ayra also surprised fans after revealing that her song Beggie Beggie was inspired by a real-life moment inside a public bus.
“I literally wrote it in a bus,” she recalled.
According to her, someone was begging inside the vehicle when another passenger reacted by saying, “See this one, beggie beggie,” and the phrase immediately sparked an idea for the song.
Beyond songwriting, the singer also opened up about the pressure that comes with fame and success in the music industry.
Ayra Starr explained that many people only see the glamorous side of being an artiste without understanding the hard work, rehearsals and difficult moments happening behind the scenes.
She noted that passion and consistency are necessary for anyone hoping to survive in the entertainment industry.
“Behind the scenes, it’s a lot of work,” she said, adding that even one technical mistake can ruin a performance after weeks of preparation.
Fans have since praised the singer online for her honesty and creativity, with many saying her story proves that inspiration can truly come from everyday life experiences.
