Tiwi, the wife of Kunle Remi, the Nollywood actor, has revealed that she does not use social media platforms except LinkedIn.
Speaking on her newly launched YouTube podcast ‘Bare by BKO,’ Tiwi explained that many people are often surprised to discover she is not on popular platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or X.
She said she stepped away from social media to enable her to rediscover herself and prepare for the life she now lives — as the wife of a celebrity.
“So the big response for why I was not on social media was that I had no idea who I was and what I was meant to be contributing to other people, and therefore, I didn’t feel like being online and using my influence in a lukewarm way was enough to justify spending so much time on an app,” she said.
I also didn’t know at the time that God was cleaning out my digital footprint because of the person I was going to marry. I had no idea I was going to marry this superstar who had such a strong public image with limited controversy.”
According to her, the reality of her inactivity became obvious after her marriage to Kunle. She recalled how one of her friends jokingly pointed out that while others were constantly getting notifications, she was receiving none.
“When I got married to my husband, I was told by one of my girlfriends that everyone’s getting notifications all around the world, and Tiwi is getting zero,” she said.
And when she said that to me, it dawned on me.”
Tiwi said she does not have the apps on her personal phone, and whenever she needs to access any platform, she uses her husband’s phone — but only for specific purposes, not for scrolling.
“I am not on any social media channels, except for LinkedIn. That is the honest answer. I don’t have a burner page or pages,” she added.
“I don’t have the apps on my personal phone. If I need to get on Instagram, TikTok, you name it, I would have to go on my husband’s phone when he is home and available, and his phone is not in use.”
I am not a scroller. Like, I literally am looking for something specific, and that’s it.”
Kunle and Tiwi’s relationship became public after the actor unveiled her as his wife on New Year’s Day in 2024. They welcomed their first child in 2025.
