Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has reached another historic milestone after becoming the first African artiste to surpass 11 billion streams on Spotify across all credits.
The achievement was announced on Tuesday by music data platform ChartsAfrica on X, further cementing Wizkid’s position as one of Africa’s most streamed and influential music stars globally.
The platform wrote, “First African artists to reach major Spotify milestones 1 billion — Wizkid, 2 billion — Wizkid, 10 billion — Wizkid, 11 billion — Wizkid.”
The latest record comes just days after the release of State of Mind, Wizkid’s new collaboration with DJ Tunez, which dropped on May 15, 2026. The song reportedly pulled more than 685,000 global Spotify streams within its first full day, adding to the singer’s already massive streaming numbers.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun and popularly known as Big Wiz or Starboy, has continued to dominate the global music scene with multiple chart-topping collaborations, international awards, and record-breaking streaming figures.
Fans and music lovers flooded social media with reactions following the announcement of the new milestone.
One user, #Cipher2277, wrote, “From star to era-defining artist is the perfect way to put it. 11 billion streams shows how far Afrobeats has traveled worldwide.”
Another fan, #OziegbeEhi, expressed confidence that the singer could reach an even bigger mark before the year ends, writing, “12 billion is possible this year.”
Waveboyoshey also praised the singer, simply calling him “The Goat.”
Reacting to the feat, #borriellogram described Wizkid’s success as a major moment for African music globally.

Wizkid had earlier made history in January 2026 when he became the first African artiste to cross the 10 billion Spotify streams mark, and his latest achievement further highlights the global growth of Afrobeats and African music.
