First Bank of Nigeria, in partnership with global payment company Visa, has introduced two new payment cards aimed at improving digital banking and transaction flexibility for customers.
The bank unveiled the Visa Signature Card and the Naira Visa Debit Card during a launch event held in Lagos.
The newly introduced Visa Signature Card comes with multi-currency functionality, allowing users to make transactions across different currencies using a single card.
Speaking at the unveiling, Head of Cards and Messaging Services at First Bank, Obianuju Ondo-Okereke, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering more convenient and globally connected payment solutions for customers.
According to her, the Visa Signature Card is targeted at premium and affluent customers, while the Naira Visa Debit Card is designed for everyday users seeking accessible and convenient payment options.
First Bank explained that the premium card can automatically switch between the naira, US dollar, British pound and euro depending on the user’s location and transaction needs.
The bank added that holders of the Visa Signature Card will also enjoy premium lifestyle benefits, including airport lounge access, travel insurance, emergency medical support and 24-hour concierge services.
Vice President and Cluster Head for Visa West Africa, Andrew Uaboi, said the collaboration between Visa and First Bank was designed to support customers at different stages of their financial journey.
He noted that the two products were created to meet the changing needs of consumers by offering secure and flexible payment experiences.
First Bank also assured customers that both cards are equipped with advanced chip-and-PIN security technology to improve transaction safety.
According to the bank, the Naira Visa Debit Card will be available instantly at branches nationwide for a Central Bank-regulated fee of N1,000.
The bank further disclosed that the Visa Signature Card comes with a default daily transaction limit of N3m, although customers can request adjustments where necessary.
Delivery of the premium card is expected within 24 to 48 hours depending on the customer’s location.
